Arrival in Matera at 10.00 and visit of this rupestrian city is an unforgivable and unique place on the Murgia hills. Its old town carved in a deep ravine, is the first UNESCO site of the southern Italy, where people lived in houses- cave from the Prehistoric Age to 1952, in two amazing districts called Sassi where we can walking through lanes and paths of centuries of history very well preserved. We will visit rupestrian churches with Bizantin frescos, a cave-houses and also the medieval cathedral and the nobles district in this ancient city called the “Italian Bethlehem”, where a lot of movies have been shot including “The Passion” directed by Mel Gibson.
 
At 12.00, after 2 hours of walking tour, we will have free time for shopping and free lunch, there are a lot of typical restaurant in the old town.
 
At 1.00 pm we will leave Matera to reach Gravina in Puglia after 30 minutes.
 The ancient district of this city with its maze of alleys and medieval houses reaches the edge of a deep ravine that give the name to the town, already settled in the bronze age, was a very important station on the Appian way in Roman time. Its long stone bridge that cross the ravine was built in that period and was also an aqueduct, now is a perfect set of a lot of movies, like the last of 007- James Bond “No time to die” with Daniel Craig. Amazing its underground caves and churches, situated in the heart of the ravine, with ancient frescos and the remains of the victims of a saracen massacre.
 
At 3.00 pm we will leave Altamura to reach Bari at 4.00 pm.

Situated in a dominating position on the Murga hills, in a National park, Altamura has an old town very interesting with a big cathedral of the medieval period, famous for its portal rich in stone decorations. Very known for the typical local bread, defined the best in Italy and with high quality mark DOP, Altamura has a lot of stone ovens where we can taste the typical disches of the wheat city!
 
At 3.00 pm we will leave Altamura to reach Bari at 4.00 pm.

Castel del monte, Barletta and Trani

Arrival at 10.00 and visit the most important castel of Puglia, it stands lonely on a hill in the National Park of Alta Murgia, 540 metres above sea level, it's an octagonal and mysterious building of Swabian Emperor Frederick II, included in the world heritage protected by Unesco. This fascinating castel, famous for its evocative power and for its amazing history, is an absolute must for visitors who love medieval architecture, art and legends!
 
At about 12.00 departure for Barletta, where we will arrive at 12.30 to visit the templar city par excellence, that reached its splendor in the Norman Era but it is to Emperor Frederick II that it owes its mighty castle and its white Cathedral. We walk through History in Barletta, in medieval stone-paved alleys, where flags and banners of the knights who challenged each other in the famous Cantina della Disfida fly over, and then we arrive in front of the 5-meter-high bronze Colossus which portrays a mysterious Byzantine Emperor from Constantinople!
 
At about 1.30 pm break for half an hour free lunch.
 
At 2.00 pm departure for Trani where we will arrive after half an hour.
 
Walking tour in Trani: the origins of this elegant town are lost in legend: probably founded in the time of Aeneas, Trani is the city of white stone and the lighthouse of Judaism in Italy. The old quarter rises around the port on a small peninsula where a grandiose cathedral overlooks the sea, like a big ship and in fact, due to its superb location, is called the Queen of Apulian Cathedrals!
 
At 3.30 pm departure from Trani to return to Bari after about 1 hour.

Monte Sant'Angelo, Manfredonia, Siponto

We meet at 8.00 am at the first meeting point near the Petruzzelli Theater with our official and licensed guide and our driver to go to Monte Sant'Angelo, 2 hours drive from Bari.

Arrival at 10 on the Holy Mountain, on the Gargano “Spur of Italy”, one of the most beautiful UNESCO site of the region rises: an amazing sanctuary in a underground cave where the Archangel Michael appeared in the 5th century. The cave became soon the destination of pilgrims and crusaders traveled across the region on their way to the Holy Land. The visit is very touching, beyond our religious profession, for the mix of Faith and History you can breathe in the silence of the cave. The town offers a picturesque view on the Mattinata bay and over the forest, especially in the medieval Junno district.

At 12.00 am we will leave for Manfredonia, founded by Manfredi, son of the Emperor Frederic II, in 1256, to house the refugees from the destructed nearby town of Siponto. Manfredonia has a big port that plays an important role in the town's trade and tourism, surrounding by a lot of imposing Baroque buildings and a great castle built by Manfredi in the Middle Ages.

Free time for lunch, after 30 minutes we will leave to reach Siponto, where we will arrive after half an hour.

The archaeological part of this ancient city, lies 2 kilometres to the south of Manfredonia, near the sea. Its cathedral dating back to the first half of the 11^ century and it's a noble example of Romanesque architecture, it's located in a site where there are also ancient mosaic on the ground and a big, amazing  building of a young, italian contemporary architect Edoardo Tresoldi, who has created a reconstruction of the ancient church with a light and transparent iron structure, so as to seem suspended in space and time, like a holographic image, an incredible contemporary art masterpiece inserted in an ancient context!

At 3.30 pm departure from Siponto to Bari, where we will arrive at approximately 5.30 pm.

Putignano, Alberobello, Locorotondo

We meet at 9.00 am at the first meeting point near the Petruzzelli Theater with our official and licensed guide and our driver to go to Putignano, 1 hour drive from Bari.

Arrival at 10 am in the surrounding of Putignano where we will visit the cave- sanctuary S.Michele in Monte Laureto. Among the green and gentle hills of the “Murgia dei trulli” in a lookout position on the city of Putignano, known as the "gateway to the Itria Valley", there is this ancient sanctuary in a cave, hidden from mass tourism and unknown to most. On the way of the pilgrims who crossed Puglia following the Michaelic cult towards the Holy Land, during the Middle Ages an altar dedicated to the archangel Michael was raised inside a large and wonderful underground karst cave! His visit is suggestive and unforgettable!

At 11.30 we will reach Alberobello, a fairy tale village, an enchanted place where seems you are walking among gnomes houses, it's actually a real village where the inhabitants live all the year round in little circular buildings with a conical stone roofs with mysterious symbols drawn on. Its historic center is one of the most famous UNESCO sites of the region, in a lot of narrow streets that climb the hill there are more than a thousand of trulli, typical peasants dwelling, with a long very interesting history! Alberobello is the most important stage of your journey in Puglia!

After the walking tour we will have 1 hour for free lunch and shopping in the “Trulli” district.

At 2.30 pm we will reach Locorotondo, few minutes of distance from Alberobello. This little, white city is perched on a hill overlooking Itria valley, dotted with trulli and  vineyards and it's famous for the production of a local white wine DOC. The name refers to the plan of the town, a round place, still clearly visible today, which makes the historic center look like a round white crown. Everything here is silent, clean and flowery, like a fantasy village, among the neat and white alleys you can breathe the scents of the local peasant cuisine of Puglia that here reaches perfection!

At 3.30 pm departure from Locorotondo to Bari, where we will arrive at approximately 4.30 pm.

At 12.00 departure for Monopoli where we will arrive after 30 minutes drive along one of the most beautiful panoramic roads in the region.

Mono-polis is the Apulian “unique city” par excellence and is located on the coast south of Bari, Monopoli has a picturesque ancient old district, stretched over a small peninsula overlooking the sea and protected by a high wall still equipped with cannons and a sixteenth-century castle, it offers unforgettable views in the narrow streets scented with sea breeze, this city has the soul of a real fishing village, silent and peaceful during the day, but in the evening it becomes one of the liveliest stops in the Apulian Movida, between bars and clubs on the port and beaches where you can dance barefoot on the beach in the warm Apulian nights.

At 1.30 pm free time for lunch.

At 2 pm we will leave Monopoli to reach Polignano a Mare in 30 minutes.

Spectacular and scenic is the location of the historic center of this town in the south of Bari, perched on a high white cliff overlooking the sea, Polignano a mare offers a maze of alleys that open surprisingly on balconies 30 meters above the sea level. Capital of the Apulian artisan ice cream, it is the birthplace of Domenico Modugno, whose statue dedicated to him stands out on the beautiful city waterfront. Theater of several international movies sets, it is one of the most famous tourist destinations for its turquoise and clean sea, awarded by Legambiente!

At 4.30 pm departure from Polignano a Mare to reach Bari at 5.30 pm.

At 12.00 departure for Cisternino where we will arrive after half an hour.

The whitewashed houses of this neat and charming town perched on a hilltop are surrounded by the green typical vegetation of the Murgia dei trulli, in a very panoramic position overlooking Itria Valley, it's declared one of the 100 most beautiful little town of Italy! The main church dedicated to S. Nicola houses a 1517 statue of a Madonna with Child by Stefano da Putignano, the most important Renaissance artist of Puglia!

30 minutes of free time for lunch and then at 2.00pm we will move from Cisternino to reach Polignano a Mare.
